INTRODUCTION TO REFLECTIONS

Welcome to New Living Light! This is a bit of an experiment and your feedback would be appreciated. We have ‘translated’ the old Daily Light into the more informal New Living Translation (Anglicised 2018) and added a reflection or meditation of about the same length.

Daily Light uses texts strung together, which isn’t how most of us study the Bible these days. But it’s really good to see how a Biblical theme can emerge from a few passages. The idea is to read the texts first, then the comments below in italics (with quotations in upright print). Then return to the texts to see which stand out most vividly for you and lead you into prayer.

Jeremiah said: ‘When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight’ (Jeremiah 15:16). These reflections are for ‘devouring’ – they are a meal rather than a snack – though they aren’t meant to give you indigestion!
